The Third Generation: Precision, Innovation, and Sustainability

Introducing the Third Generation—our youngest yet most refined design. This board represents the culmination of years of mastery in our tensioned techniques. The innovative curve at the 1/3 section of the board is a signature feature, giving it a unique aesthetic and perfect balance. This distinct curve is logically continued through the bracket, creating a harmonious flow from end to end.

Tensioned Techniques: Where Craft Meets Precision

Our tensioned technique (also known as stretched assembly) is a proprietary method that combines multiple materials into a seamless structure without the need for adhesives. This process involves a carefully calculated balance of natural and engineered materials to achieve optimal performance and durability.

Here’s how we create the Third Generation board:

  1. IPE Brazilian Hardwood: We begin by carving beams from FSC-certified IPE hardwood from the Tabebuia family. Known for its exceptional durability and beauty, IPE wood ensures a strong foundation for each board while maintaining our commitment to sustainable sourcing.
  2. IPDM Rubber Joints: Next, we insert precisely cut 100% IPDM rubber joints between the beams. These joints provide flexibility and resilience, absorbing tension and ensuring the board’s longevity.
  3. Marine-Grade Stainless Steel: The beams and rubber joints are then bound together with transverse tension bars made from MS 316 Marine Stainless Steel—a material renowned for its corrosion resistance and strength. This creates a unified, solid structure capable of withstanding years of use in all conditions.

A Commitment to Sustainability

At Mikel Tube®, our design philosophy is deeply rooted in sustainability. We carefully select materials that are both eco-friendly and recyclable, ensuring that our products contribute to a circular economy. The Third Generation board is 100% recyclable, reflecting our dedication to reducing environmental impact while delivering uncompromising quality.
